What to expect when you visit

Burton Bradstock Community Library is now open once a week on Wednesday mornings.  All necessary risk assessments have been completed, and actions taken to help keep our customers, volunteers and local community safe.  There are some changes and we would be grateful if you could follow the guidance below.  If you’re showing any of the symptoms of coronavirus, or if you’ve been in contact with anyone that has the virus in the last 14 days, please do not visit.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

  • You will be greeted at the door by a volunteer who will make note of, your name and phone number, for Track and Trace purposes.  Your details will be kept for one month before being destroyed.  We are currently not accepting visitors.
  • A limited number of people will be allowed in the Library at a time.  One person/ one couple/a household/, (children with adults must move as one body).
  • To help keep everyone safe, please follow social distancing and be aware of any traffic outside the library.
  • You will be asked to place all book returns in the ‘RETURNS BOX’ in the lobby.  If you simply would like to renew a book which you have brought with you, please leave it at the door and collect on the way out.  This can be renewed at the Customer self Service, without the book, or ask the librarian/ volunteer at the desk to renew the book for you.
  • If you have any questions please ask the volunteer at the door.

DURING YOUR VISIT

Please use the hand sanitiser provided and wear a face covering in line with government guidance.

  • Borrow books as usual, using the Self-Service machine, if operating, or at the desk.  The loan period is 21 days.  We politely ask that any browsed books are replaced on their edge, so people following you know that they have been handled.
  • The shelving has been rearranged to allow easier circulation of customers and volunteers.  The location of books has changed slightly and a new display shows “Books New to our Library”.
  • If you have books that will not issue on the self-service please take them to the desk for assistance.  Any books with queries, place on the table by the desk with your library card – bar codes showing.
  • Pay fines either using the Self-Service machine, if operating, or with the exact money at the desk (NO CHANGE can be given).  If you would like to pay by card please call in at Bridport Library which is open from 9.30am to 1pm, Monday to Saturday, excluding Thursday.
  • A selection of Jigsaws, DVDs, which have been donated to raise money for the “Friends of Burton Bradstock Library” and Photocopying, are all available, the latter undertaken by, and at the discretion of, the librarian.
  • Free Wi-Fi can be accessed outside the library using your own device.  Please see the poster for the current password.
If you have any queries please ask the librarian/volunteer at the desk for assistance
